I'm glad you are keeping the ovary, it does help with hormones post surgery, my mum had hers and went nursing 5 weeks later so for some it can be the begining of a new and better chapter in life. I shall pray for sucess in and out of surgery

This whole thread is helpful to many of us.  Heather, I'm wishing you the best of luck and hope you won't suffer the complications others have mentioned.

If you celebrate Christmas, then my advice is to finish up the shopping and gift wrapping before hand.  Put up the tree and decorate before hand, too.  Then you'll come home to a pretty house and won't have to try to shop while you're weak.  Jennifer's advice about cooking ahead of time and getting help is wonderful.

Isn't it crazy that you have so much to do before the surgery when you're in the pain that requires the surgery?  You're strong.

Is your cold better, yet?  Good luck on the long drive to and from the Crohn's specialist.  I hope you like him or her and that you are able to feel stronger and healthier soon.  Please let us know how it goes.

I'm glad you called your doctor.  I wish this disease would just go away so that none of us had to call doctors.

Are you not going to take the Immuran?  It sounds like you'll be on just a short course of prednisone.  I think you'll feel better longer if you take the Immuran, too.

My Airedale is pro-cat-slobbering, but we discourage that.

You're welcome.

How long has it been since you used Remicade?  If you think of how much Remicade you get during infusion compared to how little Humira you get per injection, then it seems reasonable that Humira's going to take a while before you notice you're feeling like you did on Remicade.  But that's just my guess this morning before I've had my coffee.   :uhm:

I know that it's scary to think that something that helped you so much won't work again.  My doc suggested switching to Cimzia because I get saucer-sized injection site reactions with Humira, but I admitted I was too afraid to change with the Humira working otherwise.  I think that if Remicade worked for you each time you took it before that it would continue working for you if you return to it.  The main thing with being off of it for a while is to watch for an allergic reaction to it.  That wouldn't necessarily prohibit its use; it would just mean extra premedications and going slowly.

I hope Humira will help you soon.  It's so much easier to take than Remicade.  When do you return for follow up?

Very helpful info, Driz, about your experience. I agree with what the others have said above, check with doc and try low-res diet if possible. Get help with B-vitamins and iron if needed, too. Hope you soon feel better!
Helen
